Fleet & Inventory

Fleet & Inventory manages and maintains The City of Calgary's fleet of vehicles and equipment (excluding Calgary Transit, Fire, Police and Planning and Development). Fleet & Inventory supports City business units that are responsible for providing front-line services to citizens, such as: waste and recycling, repairing and cleaning roads and repairing water mains.

Standard fleet utility vehicles

City of Calgary fleet utility vehicles have the following standard identification markings:

  • City of Calgary Visual Identifier (placed in centre section of driver and passenger doors, tail gate).
  • Contact 311 and calgary.ca (corporate URL). Placed under Visual Identifier.
  • Vehicle Identification Number (back, on windshield and both sides of vehicle).
  • Two-inch high conspicuity tape (sides and back of vehicle).

Non-standard fleet utility vehicles

Non-standard City of Calgary vehicles have slightly different versions of standard identification markings. Many fleet vehicles come in a multitude of colours and types. An example of fleet non-standard vehicles would include: forklifts, graders dump trucks, trailers, front-end loaders, lawn maintenance vehicles, Waste & Recycling Service garbage and recycling trucks, excavators, backhoes, bulldozers, landfill compactors and many others.

Vehicles with a white body (background) must follow the branding recommendations for Standard fleet vehicles (noted above).

  • City of Calgary Visual Identifier (placed in centre section of the vehicle in an area where the it will be the most visible). The Visual Identifier must have a white border on vehicles that feature red or orange body colours.
  • Contact 311 and calgary.ca (corporate URL). This element must be white (reversed) on all vehicles unless the background body colour is white, light silver or light beige. Please check with the CSC Advertising and Design department if unsure.
  • Vehicle Identification Number. This element must be white (reversed) on all vehicles unless the background body colour is white, light silver or light beige. Please check with the CSC Advertising and Design department if unsure.
  • 2” high conspicuity tape. This element must be placed in an area on the vehicle where it will easily be seen by other vehicles and pedestrians.
